Alois Bilek ( June 15, 1887 Slupy near Tabor - January 18, 1961 Prague )  painter and graphic artist

Studied: AVU in Prague, he left for Paris, where he entered the symbolic circuit of Verhaarenov and came close to E. Kupka. In 1913 he created a series of abstract paintings and watercolors built on more or less musical principles of harmony of shapes and especially of colors, which were his main interest in later times. These works were exhibited from 17 December 1913 to 10 January 1914 in the Gallery d'Art decoratif in rue Laffitte in Paris and at the Independent Salon ( Les Independants ) 1914. Bíiek became one of the first safely documented artists of the non-figurative art ever.
