Jan Cumpelik ( January 28, 1895 in Dobrovice near Mlada Boleslav - October 12, 1965 in Prague ) painter and graphic artist
He studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague under Prof. Dite and then at the Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Nechleba. He was a member of the Union of Artists, with whom he also exhibited. He had his first collective exhibition with them in 1936. In 1939, he was designed by the professor choir of the Academy of Fine Arts as professor of the school. After 1948 he became a leading member of socialist realism and cooperated on monumental commissions of the Communist Party together with A. Cermakova and J. Schor.
