Vladimír Komárek (10.8. 1928 in Hořensko u Semil - 24.8. 2002 in Jilemnice) - painter, graphic artist, illustrator, teacher
He studied glass painting and etching at M. Janků at Železný Brod Specialized Glass School (1945-1946). Later he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1946-1948) and at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (1948-1953). In 1959 he co-founded The Group 7 in Liberec. In 1961, he created his first graphics - dry needles. He mostly devoted himself to painting, free graphics (woodcut, linocut, lithography, dry needle). The formal unity of graphics and painting is typical for him. His artworks look dull in color, he uses gray-white, black, green, and pastel-pink to which he sometimes adds golden glow strikes.
