Josef Multrus ( March 12, 1898 Prague - January 3, 1957 Prague ) painter


He studied with prof. Jaroslav Benda at Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague and in the master's special with prof. Vratislav Nechleba at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague 1919 - 1923. He undertook study trips to Yugoslavia and Italy from 1922 to 1923. A member of the Union of Fine Artists (1924 - 1931), with which he regularly exhibited. He had a studio in Prague near the Prasna Brana. He devoted himself to landscape painting and figural creation. He used darker colors. He captured social and societal motives in a realistic way. Represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and many other regional galleries.
